MAK Water is proud to be part of Australia’s newest gold mine, the Gruyere Gold Project in Laverton, Western Australia.
In November 2016, Gold Road Resources awarded MAK Water a supply contract for the water and sewage treatment plants.
The scope of supply included:
- 2 x Sea Water Reverse Osmosis desalination plants
- 2 x Sodium Hypochlorite Sterilisation plants
- 1 x Multimedia Filtration iron removal filtration plant
- 1 x Moving Bed Bioreactor Sewage Treatment Plant
- Site supervision and commissioning
The potable / drinking water and sewage treatment plants for the mining camp were required within a very short timeframe and were designed, manufactured and delivered to site within seven weeks.

Project Background:
The Gruyere Gold Project, discovered by Gold Road in October 2013, is one of the largest undeveloped gold deposits in Australia. Within 10 months of Gruyere’s discovery, Gold Road had defined a significant high-grade gold deposit. The Feasibility Study delivered by Gold Road in October 2016 envisaged a large-scale open pit mine feeding a 7.5 million tonne per annum processing plant and producing and average of 270,000 ounces of gold a year over and initial 13 year mine life.
