Wastewater & Sewage Treatment Plants
MAK Water offers a range of wastewater and sewage treatment options to suit commercial and industrial clients. Our wastewater treatment plants cater for your site specific requirements, considering factors such as:
- Minimum and maximum flow rates
- Environmental regulations and discharge limits
- Onsite effluent reuse/recycling applications, such as:
- Internal reuse (toilet flushing, washing machines)
- Agricultural irrigation of food crops
- Urban surface irrigation
- Fire fighting
- Fountains and water features
- Stock watering, dairy cattle, grazing
- Industrial use with potential human exposure
- Dust suppression
- Wash down water
- Cooling towers
- Commercial food crops, or
- Available disposal pathway
Where reuse or recycling is desirable, Class A or Class A+ effluent quality may be required. Where reuse is not anticipated, Class C effluent quality may suffice. Depending on environmental discharge limits and treated effluent disposal methods, enhanced nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus) removal may also be necessary.
In addition to the design and manufacture of containerised and packaged sewage treatment plants, MAK Water can supply ancillary equipment as part of a turn-key supply and installation solution, or component supply only:
- Packaged sewage pump station (PSPS)
- Grit removal systems
- Salsnes fine screen filter (SFSF)
- Internally fed drum screens (IFDS)
- Static bow screens
- Storage tanks for raw sewage and treated effluent
- Odour control systems

Wastewater Treatment Plants & Containerised Sewage Treatment Plants
Activated Sludge Bioreactor (ASBR)
MAK Water’s Activated Sludge Bioreactor (ASBR) type packaged sewage treatment plants are designed to treat domestic strength sewage, to achieve “Class C” treated effluent, suitable for reuse in “risk category low” applications or for discharge to environment. With the optional “Class A” upgrade, treated effluent suitable for reuse in “risk category medium” applications is achieved.
The standard treatment process includes influent screening, balance tank mixing, anoxic & aerobic treatment, clarification, effluent sterilization (chlorine tablets) and bag filtration (100 micron). The optional “Class A” upgrade includes an auto-backwashing filter (25 micron), secondary chlorination via tank recirculation and residual trim hypochlorite dosing, and analysers for online monitoring of treated effluent turbidity, free chlorine and pH.
MAK Water’s ASBR Bioreactors are constructed of corrosion resistant FRP, and are self-contained, modular systems for easy deployment to remote locations.
Activated Sludge Bioreactor Plus (ASBR+)
MAK Water’s Activated Sludge Bioreactor (ASBR) type packaged sewage water treatment plants are designed to treat domestic strength sewage, to achieve “Class C” treated effluent, suitable for reuse in “risk category low” applications or for discharge to the environment. With the optional “Class A” upgrade, treated effluent suitable for reuse in “risk category medium” applications is achieved.

Moving Bed Bioreactor (MBBR)
MAK Water’s Moving Bed Bioreactor (MBBR) type packaged sewage treatment plants are designed to treat domestic strength sewage, to achieve “Class C” treated effluent, suitable for reuse in “risk category low” applications or for discharge to the environment. With the optional “Class A” upgrade, treated effluent suitable for reuse in “risk category medium” applications is achieved.
The standard wastewater treatment process includes influent screening, balance tank mixing, anoxic & aerobic treatment, clarification, effluent sterilization (chlorine tablets) and bag filtration (100 micron). The optional “Class A” upgrade includes an autobackwashing aseptic glass media filter (5 micron), secondary chlorination via tank recirculation and residual trim hypochlorite dosing, and analyzers for online monitoring of treated effluent turbidity, free chlorine and pH.
MAK Water’s MBBR Bioreactors are constructed of corrosion resistant FRP, and are self-contained, modular systems for easy deployment to remote locations.
Moving Bed Bioreactor Plus (MBBR+)
MAK Water’s Moving Bed Bioreactor Plus (MBBR+) type packaged sewage treatment plants are designed to treat domestic strength sewage, to achieve “Class C” treated effluent, plus enhanced nutrient removal, suitable for reuse in “risk category low” applications or for discharge to environment. With the optional “Class A” upgrade, treated effluent suitable for reuse in “risk category medium” applications is achieved.
The standard wastewater treatment process of a MAK Water MBBR+ includes influent screening, balance tank mixing, anoxic & aerobic treatment for nitrification and denitrification, clarification, effluent sterilization (chlorine tablets) and bag filtration (100 μm). The optional “Class A” upgrade includes an auto-backwashing aseptic glass media filter (5 μm), secondary chlorination via tank recirculation and residual trim hypochlorite dosing, and analyzers for online monitoring of treated effluent turbidity, free chlorine and pH.
MAK Water’s MBBR+ Bioreactors are constructed of corrosion resistant FRP, and are self-contained, modular systems for easy deployment to remote locations.
Membrane Bioreactor (MBR)
MAK Water’s Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) type packaged sewage treatment plants are designed to treat domestic strength sewage, to achieve “Class A+” treated effluent, suitable for reuse in “risk category high” applications or for discharge to sensitive environments.
The standard treatment process includes influent screening, balance tank mixing, anoxic & aerobic treatment, ultrafiltration (UF) with automated chemical cleaning system, effluent sterilization via UV and/or tank recirculation and residual trim hypochlorite dosing, and analysers for online monitoring of treated effluent turbidity, free chlorine and pH. Additional treatment steps for nutrient removal (T-N & T-P) and sludge de-watering systems may be added as required to suit influent quality and/or treated effluent quality requirements.
