One of the largest bottlers of non-alcoholic ready-to-drink beverages in the Asia-Pacific region was having problems with its Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) that was used to treat their factory waste prior to discharge to the local water authority.  The plant was unreliable, required excessive operator input, which combined with its high chemical consumption made it expensive to run. MAK Water was asked to review the operation and propose a solution, to reduce the solids going into the process through better screening, reduce chemical consumption and operator input and improve the quality control of the treated water.

One of the largest bottlers of non-alcoholic ready-to-drink beverages in the Asia-Pacific region had reliability problems with its Water Treatment Plant (WTP).  The pressure vessels filled with Granulated Activated Carbon (GAC) used to treat the incoming water for odour and taste had developed serious corrosion and required immediate replacement as they were becoming a serious risk to their core business. MAK Water was asked to review the tanks, the historical corrosion issues and propose a solution, to replace the tanks in a way that provided the best possible lifespan for this type of tank.

In 2014-15 Water Corporation constructed Stage 1A of the East Rockingham WWTP, which included two (2) Oxidation Ditches (ODs). As part of a major upgrade to the Christies Beach WWTP in 2011-12, an in-channel Ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system was installed to disinfect the secondary treated effluent from the C-Plant submerged membrane bioreactors. Treated water exiting the UV disinfection plant is discharged to an off-site reuse scheme or discharged to a marine environment, and reticulated for onsite reuse.
