The Combabula Gas Processing Facility (GPF) and Village is located three hours north-west of Roma, QLD and is part of the Australia Pacific LNG upstream gas processing pipeline. The project included construction offices, a 200 person village (phase 1) and a 350 person village (phase 2), with administration and support buildings.

MAK Water was contracted to design, manufacture and commission a customised 550EP potable water treatment plant to treat bore water for compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG). The client was looking for a fully automated, low maintenance system with online monitoring, suitable for such a remote location.


  • Custom design and manufacture of 165 m3/day containerised Ultrafiltration (UF) plant
  • Continuous recirculation of the contents of the six potable water tanks with online monitoring of free chlorine and automated dosing to maintain compliance with ADWG
  • Containerised with insulation and duty standby
    air conditioning to avoid heat degradation of sodium hypochlorite
  • Self-contained equipment with protection from the harsh environment and including safety shower and eyewash station
  • Plant powered by a combination of solar power and diesel generators
  • Premium instrumentation with turbidity transmitter, online alarms and remote monitoring
  • Flow totaliser to record daily water consumption
  • On site commissioning and training of local operators with ongoing service and maintenance provided
