Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: MAK Water’s Commitment to the WA Aboriginal Leadership Institute Emerging Leaders Programme

November 23rd, 2023

At MAK Water, we value a sustainable approach to business, and to us, this includes the transformative power of education and personal development as well as supporting the communities in which we operate. One recent initiative that exemplifies this commitment to our values is our sponsorship of two young individuals in the Western Australian Aboriginal Leadership Institute’s (WAALI) Emerging Leaders Programme. This 10-week course is designed to empower young people with leadership potential, equipping them with the self-development & financial literacy skills and connection to culture needed to become influential leaders in their communities.

Supporting Emerging Leaders

MAK Water proudly sponsored two promising young individuals, Dahkota and Kelsee, to participate in the 2023 WAALI Emerging Leaders Programme. This initiative is a testament to our dedication to creating a positive impact beyond business.

By investing in the personal development of young talents, we aim to contribute to the growth and prosperity of not just the individuals  but also the communities they represent.

CEO Andy Byk and Marketing Manager Jordan Zacha were honoured to attend the graduation ceremony of the Emerging Leaders Programme at Government House on the 15th of November 2023. The event, hosted by the Governor of Western Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, marked the culmination of a transformative journey for these young leaders. Attendees enjoyed stories and wisdom shared by Aboriginal Elders as well as speeches from each of the graduates, sharing the positive impact the program has had on them.

The 10-week course is designed to instil essential leadership qualities, effective communication skills, and a deep understanding of community dynamics. Participants are exposed to a range of experiences that challenge and broaden their perspectives, preparing them to take on leadership roles with confidence and compassion.

Community Impact:

MAK Water’s second year of involvement in the WAALI Emerging Leaders Programme extends beyond corporate sponsorship. It represents our belief in the potential of every individual to make a positive impact in their community. As these young leaders embark on their journeys, we hope to see a ripple effect of positive change that extends far beyond the confines of the program.

Our collaboration with the WA Aboriginal Leadership Institute aligns with MAK Water’s broader commitment to social responsibility. We believe that by investing in the development of future leaders, we contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and equitable society.

MAK Water’s sponsorship of the WAALI Emerging Leaders Programme reflects our dedication to building a better future. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and express our gratitude to WAALI for providing a platform that fosters growth, resilience, and leadership.
