POTABLE WATER TREATMENT FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL CAMPUS

Multimedia Filtration (MMF)

Infrastructure

Parkerville, Western Australia

BACKGROUND

When the Swan Christian College Association was planning to build a new secondary campus in the Perth Hills they identified that the new development would be without access to water and wastewater services for several years. They required an alternative medium-term source of potable water and engaged a local hydraulic consultant to manage the process.

MAK Water was engaged to design and manufacture a system to treat the available bore water for potable use at the school and maintain compliance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines (ADWG).
MAK Water also consulted with local authorities on behalf of the school to develop and gain approval for the required Drinking Water Quality Management Plan

SOLUTION

  • Custom design and manufacture of a 72 m3 per day skid mounted Multimedia Filtration (MMF) plant
  • Pre-MMF chlorine dosing for chemical oxidisation with DMI-65 media to remove heavy metals
  • Post-MMF chemical dosing for pH adjustment
  • Continuous recirculation of the contents of the potable water tank with online monitoring of free chlorine and automated dosing
  • Online monitoring of turbidity, pH and free chlorine with ClearAccess™ Remote Monitoring
  • Raw water analysis and bench testing of samples
  • Drinking Water Quality Management Plan
  • Onsite commissioning and ongoing service and maintenance contract

RESULTS AND BENEFITS

  • Technical Support. Expert advice and consultation with all parties throughout the process.
  • Minimal Operator Requirement. High level of online monitoring and scheduled servicing by MAK Water.
  • Drinking Water Quality Management Plan. Successful development and management of the approval process.
  • Compliance. Maintains compliance with Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
